Terms of Service
What you agree to when using Noren. Read this before using the service.
Last updated: March 9, 2026
1. Service description
Noren is a voice extraction engine that analyzes your writing to build a reusable voice profile. It consists of a macOS desktop application and a server-side extraction pipeline.
Noren uses a bring-your-own-key (BYOK) model. You provide your own API key from a supported LLM provider (e.g. Google Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic) to run voice extractions. Your API key is stored locally on your device and sent directly to the LLM provider.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use Noren. By using the service, you confirm that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.
3. User responsibilities
By using Noren, you agree that:
- You are responsible for obtaining and managing your own LLM API key, including any costs incurred through usage
- You will only upload writing samples that you have authored yourself, or for which you have explicit permission to use
- You will not use Noren to extract or replicate another person's voice without their consent
- You are responsible for how you use the generated voice profiles and any content produced with them
4. Intellectual property
Your content. Voice profiles generated from your writing belong to you. Your writing samples remain your property at all times.
The desktop app. The Noren desktop application is open source and available under its respective license on GitHub.
The extraction engine. The extraction pipeline, including prompt architecture, pipeline design, quality-check logic, and scoring methodology, is proprietary intellectual property of Noren. It may not be copied, reverse-engineered, or redistributed.
5. Pricing and payments
Noren offers the following plans:
- Free tier: full app access, bring your own API key, manual profiles
- One-time extraction ($19 founding window, $29 after): full voice extraction with complete profile output
- Pro plan ($7/mo founding members during April 6-20 window, $12/mo after 6 months, $19/mo normal): unlimited extractions, Living Profile upgrades, and priority support
All prices are final and include applicable taxes. Payments are processed securely through our payment provider.
6. Right of withdrawal (Widerrufsrecht)
If you are a consumer in the European Union, you have the right to withdraw from a paid contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period begins on the day the contract is concluded.
To exercise this right, send a clear statement (e.g. by email) to help@usenoren.ai indicating your decision to withdraw. You may use the following sample text, though it is not required:
I hereby withdraw from the contract for the following service: [service name / order reference].
Ordered on: [date] / Name: [your name] / Email: [your email]
If you withdraw, we will refund all payments received from you without undue delay and no later than 14 days from the day we received your withdrawal notification. We will use the same payment method you used for the original transaction.
Early performance and consent: If you request that the service begins before the withdrawal period expires (e.g. by immediately running an extraction after purchase), you acknowledge that the withdrawal right expires once the service has been fully performed. For the one-time extraction, this means once your voice profile has been generated. If you withdraw before the service is fully performed, you will owe a proportionate amount for the service already provided.
7. Service quality and expectations
Voice profiles are generated using AI and may not perfectly capture every aspect of your writing style. Output quality depends on factors including the quantity and quality of writing samples provided, the LLM model used, and the inherent variability of AI-generated content.
We strive to provide a reliable and high-quality service, but we do not guarantee specific results from the extraction process. This does not affect your statutory warranty rights (gesetzliche Gewährleistungsrechte).
8. Liability
We are liable without limitation for damages caused by intentional misconduct or gross negligence, and for injury to life, body, or health.
For slight negligence, we are only liable for breaches of material contractual obligations (Kardinalpflichten), i.e. obligations whose fulfilment is essential for the proper performance of the contract and on which you may regularly rely. In such cases, liability is limited to the foreseeable, typically occurring damages.
Liability under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz) and other mandatory statutory provisions remains unaffected.
9. Termination
You may stop using Noren at any time. For the Pro plan, you can cancel your subscription at any time, effective at the end of the current billing period.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the service if you materially violate these terms, after giving reasonable notice where possible. Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases, but any voice profiles you have already generated remain yours.
The right to extraordinary termination for good cause (außerordentliche Kündigung aus wichtigem Grund) remains unaffected for both parties.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via email or a prominent notice on the website at least 30 days before they take effect. If you do not agree with the changes, you may terminate your use of the service before the changes take effect.
11. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG).
If you are a consumer residing in the EU, you also benefit from any mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence. Nothing in these terms affects your rights as a consumer under applicable local law.
For disputes with consumers, the courts at your place of residence have jurisdiction. For all other disputes, the courts of Osnabrück, Germany shall have jurisdiction.
12. Online dispute resolution
The European Commission provides a platform for online dispute resolution (OS): ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not obligated and not willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
